At least six immigrant rights activists were arrested inside the Edward R. Roybal federal building in downtown Los Angeles this week after they entered the building and refused to leave, officials said.
The protesters, some of whom said they were undocumented students, were demanding an end to the Secure Communities immigration enforcement program, organizers said.

Obama’s chief of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has issued a new policy memorandum signaling major changes in the Secure Communities program which was designed to identify and deport illegal aliens who have been arrested and are in police custody.
The new policy is purposely designed to allow millions of illegal and criminal immigrants to remain in the United States. This is Obama’s payoff to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, one which he hopes will hispanic votes to his campaign for re-election
In a “Dear Colleague” letter sent to members of Congress by Rep. Smith, he warned that the new ICE memorandum grants almost unlimited discretion to agency officials to set aside the deportation of illegal aliens.
The Obama Administration took provisions from the “DREAM Act” and placed them in the ICE memo where it has the de facto force of a law passed by Congress. The “DREAM” Act is a “stealth amnesty” bill that would have allowed millions of illegal aliens to remain in the United States legally. The bill failed to pass Congress on three occasions.
Obama is attempting to go around Congress by implementing the provisions of this legislation by executive order. By this action, Obama has made a mockery of the legislative process and trampled on the Constitution.
Barack Obama comes from the Chicago school of politics. In Chicago you don’t accept defeat as an expression of the will of the people--you bend the rules to get your way.
Well, this time, it’s the Constitution that is getting bent--the Constitution that Barack Obama swore an oath to “preserve, protect and defend”. Rep. Smith’s bill will remind Obama that in our system, Congress passes the laws--not the President.
In usurping the power of Congress, Obama has clearly crossed the line. Congress is a co-equal branch of government and cannot stand by and allow the President to use back door executive action to nullify a congressional decision.
Obama has been more than willing to shove aside the Constitution when it gets in his way.
Obamacare was rammed through with no one reading the bill. Obama overruled Justice Department and Pentagon lawyers who advised him to get Congressional approval for his intervention in Libya.
He tried to bring back the so-called “fairness doctrine” as a way to silence conservative opponents on talk radio. And, his FCC appointees tried to seize control of the internet.
Now he’s trying to impose the provisions of a law defeated by Congress.
That’s the way Obama likes it. No dissenting voices--no respect for democratic institutions and no opposition.
Obama promised to strengthen our borders but never had any intention of doing so. Instead he stopped construction of the border fence and tied the hands of the Border Patrol. He has been dishonest from the beginning about protecting our borders.
He claims that our borders are more secure than ever. Ask those who live along the border if conditions have improved since Obama took office. They categorically reject that claim.
And, now the new immigration policy virtually guarantees that the deportation of illegal aliens will come to a screeching halt.
The new rules call for the application of “relevant factors” when agency officials are deciding whether or not to deport. Here’s a partial list:
Attending school; pregnancy; illness; old-age; under-age minor; length of presence in the U.S.; relative in the military; ties to the community; spouse is pregnant; victim of domestic violence or other crime; cooperative attitude; caretaker of a sick relative; spouse suffers from mental or physical illness; spouse, child or parent a citizen or permanent resident; conditions in the home country; and the catch-all factor of “agency’s civil immigration enforcement priorities”.
In other words, if any of these factors apply to a case, the officials are expected to weigh that in favor of not deporting the individual.
These categories cover literally millions of illegal aliens.
That’s why it is so vital to flood Congress with faxes of support for the Smith bill. The Obama Administration is trying to get away with rule by executive decree.
Twenty million illegal aliens are living within our borders. The vast majority of them are low skilled individuals. The Heritage Foundation estimates that low skilled individuals receive $3 in government services for every $1 they pay in taxes--that is if they pay taxes at all.
Our schools, hospitals, and prisons are overcrowded because of the unplanned for influx of millions of illegal aliens.
Parks and highways and public facilities--like post offices and motor vehicle departments--are overcrowded for the same reason.
Our Social Security system is under attack from illegal aliens. Over 8 million fake social security numbers have been given to employers by illegal aliens seeking employment.
Immigrants are traditionally allowed to bring relatives to the United States to “re-unite families”. If Obama gets his way and illegal aliens are allowed to become citizens, millions now living in Mexico, Central America and other parts of the world will come to the United States and add 100 million to 200 million new “citizens” to our population in the next 20 years. These new “immigrants” could comprise as much as one-third of the U.S. population.
It is up to Congress to stop Obama’s suicidal policies from remaining in effect. Stop the granting of stealth amnesty by supporting Rep. Smith’s emergency legislation.
The greatness and character of our country should not be sacrificed so the Democrats can win another election. Take action today.

Jim: Juan, I see that you and thousands of other protesters are marching in the streets to demonstrate for your cause. Exactly what is your cause and what do you expect to accomplish by this protest?
Juan: We want our rights. We will show you how powerful we are. We will bring Houston to its knees!
Jim: What rights?
Juan: Our right to live here...legally. Our right to get all the benefits you get.
Jim: When did you come to the United States?
Juan: Six years ago. I crossed over the border at night with seven other friends.
Jim: Why did you come?
Juan: For work I can earn as much in a month as I could in a year in Mexico.
Besides, I get free health care, our Mexican children can go to school free,
if I lose my job I will get Welfare, and someday I will have the Social Security. Nothing like that in Mexico!
Jim: Did you feel badly about breaking our immigration laws when you came?
Juan: No! Why should I feel bad? I have a right to be here. I have a right to amnesty.
I paid lots of money for my Social Security and Green Cards.
Jim: How did you acquire those documents?
Juan: From a guy in Dallas . He charged me a lot of money too.
Jim: Did you know that those documents were forged?
Juan: It is of no matter. I have a right to be here and work.
Jim: What is the "right" you speak of?
Juan: The right of all Aliens. It is found in your Constitution. Read it!
Jim: I have read it, but I do not remember it saying anything about rights for Aliens.
Juan: It is in that part where it says that all men have Alien rights, like the right to pursue happiness. I wasn't happy in Mexico, so I came here.
Jim: I think you are referring to the declaration of Independence and that document speaks to unalienable rights. Not Alien rights.
Juan: Whatever.
Jim: Since you are demanding to become an American citizen, why then are you carrying a Mexican Flag?
Juan: Because I am Mexican.
Jim: But you said you want to be given amnesty ... to become a US citizen.
Juan: No. This is not what we want. This is our country, a part of Mexico that you Gringos stole from us. We want it returned to its rightful owner.
Jim: Juan, you are standing in Texas. After winning the war with Mexico, Texas became a Republic, and later Texans voted to join the USA. It was not stolen from Mexico.
Juan: That is a Gringo lie. Texas was stolen. So was California, New Mexico and Arizona. It is just like all the other stuff you Gringos steal, like oil and babies. You are a country of thieves.

what rights would I have there?

"The state law passed today, 37 to 9, had a few liberals in the mix, an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol. The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake.

We recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from, unless they want to get a green card and/or become an American citizen. They all scattered. Hope we didn't send any of them to your state. This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake.

Yesterday we passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegals to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes. Pelosi said it was unconstitutional.

Guess what.........More states are likely to follow. Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, both Carolina's, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, just to name a few. Should Mississippi act, so will Florida. Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again. HJR 1003
